GlossGenius's Reception page, which glossgenius.com/reception opens, says Reception answers calls and texts 24/7 and books clients straight onto the GlossGenius calendar in real time. It lists answering customer questions, explaining services and pricing, following your deposit and cancellation policies, managing a waitlist and handling several calls at once. The pricing terms it gives are:

GlossGenius's pricing page lists Reception at $50£38€45A$72C$71 a month next to its plans, without mentioning the free period. The Reception page adds that more plans for different call volumes will come as more businesses use it, with no dates or prices. Neither page says which GlossGenius plans Reception works with; the Reception page calls it an add-on to your GlossGenius account.

Who it affects and what it will cost

Any business already on GlossGenius can try it during the free period. From December, what Reception costs depends on how much it talks. How the site's med spa ideas use it

Those are illustrative figures, not results. Until November 30, the Reception part of that cost is nothing.

The idea keeps Reception to scheduling and policies. Questions about symptoms, medications, pregnancy or whether a treatment is suitable go to a licensed provider, because a wrong answer there is a clinical risk, not a customer service slip. It also flags HIPAA: GlossGenius says eligible businesses can sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA), but its site doesn't say which features the BAA covers, so ask whether it covers Reception's calls and texts before any health details pass through it. Med spas that keep charts in GlossGenius, as in before-and-after photos for med spas: off personal phones, sign the BAA first for the same reason.

What to do before November 30

• If you're going to try it, turn it on soon, so the free weeks cover a real run of evenings and weekends.
• Load the answers it may give: hours, address, parking, services and prices, deposit and cancellation policy.
