The problem
Injectors take before-and-after photos on their own phones, so at the follow-up nobody can find last visit's photos, and a phone left in a car holds patient images. If finding and comparing photos adds 5 minutes to 80 visits a month, that's more than 6 hours of provider time.
What the AI does
GlossGenius Medspa plans include charting with photo markup, SOAP notes, product tracking with lot number, units and expiration date, client photos with auto-sort and before-and-after photo reminders. The injector takes the before photo, treats, takes the after photo and marks it up in the chart before checkout. Medical directors review and sign charts in the platform. Eligible businesses can sign a BAA with GlossGenius. Photos are used in marketing only with the client's signed written authorization.
A worked example
An illustrative example built from typical figures, not a named business.
A med spa in San Diego with three injectors sees about 80 follow-up visits a month. Photos lived on each injector's phone and a shared tablet. The owner moves charting and photos into GlossGenius Practice Essentials.
Before
About 5 minutes per follow-up visit finding and comparing photos: 400 minutes a month
After
Last visit's photos open in the chart in seconds; 0 treatment photos left on personal phones
What it's worth
About $367£276€328A$530C$519 a month saved (400 minutes, about 6.7 hours, of provider time at $55£41€49A$79C$78 an hour). That is against $148£111€132A$214C$209 a month billed annually, or $168£126€150A$243C$237 monthly, for GlossGenius Practice Essentials, which includes charting and 50 GB of client photos.
How to set it up
- Sign GlossGenius's BAA before storing any client photos or charts; its site says eligible businesses can sign one.
- Set a photo standard: same lighting, angles and distance for each treatment area.
- Take and mark up photos only in the GlossGenius chart, and delete treatment photos from personal phones.
- Collect a separate written authorization before any photo is used on social media or your website, as HIPAA requires for marketing.
- Have your medical director review and sign charts in the platform on a set schedule.
What goes wrong
- Without a signed BAA, patient photos in any app are a HIPAA problem. Sign first, then upload.
- Practice Essentials includes 50 GB of client photos; heavy photo use may need Practice Advanced (100 GB, $248£186€222A$358C$351 a month annually).
- A client who withdraws marketing consent needs their photos taken down everywhere they were posted.
