The problem
Many wedding DJs also act as MC: announcing the couple's entrance, speeches, cake cutting, first dance and the last song, with names to get right. Writing a script per wedding from the couple's notes takes about 45 minutes. With 6 weddings a month, that's 4.5 hours.
What the AI does
A general AI assistant can draft a script from the plan. Paste the timings, first names with how to say them, who is speaking and any special moments into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini and ask for short, warm announcements in your own style, using only what you gave it. Then check every name, title and time against the couple's plan, and confirm anything sensitive, such as an absent parent or a moment for someone who has died, with the couple directly.
A worked example
A wedding DJ and MC in Yorkshire plays about 6 weddings a month. They paste each couple's timings and names into an assistant for a first draft, then edit it and check pronunciations on the final call.
Before
About 45 minutes per script: 6 × 45 = 270 minutes, 4.5 hours a month
After
About 15 minutes per script to paste, edit and check: 90 minutes, 1.5 hours a month
What it's worth
About $100£75€89A$144C$141 a month saved, against nothing to about $27£20€24A$38C$38 for an assistant. That's 3 hours (270 minus 90 minutes) at an assumed $33£25€30A$48C$47 an hour. The free plans of ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini can do this; a paid plan is up to about $27£20€24A$38C$38 a month for one person if you hit usage limits.
How to set it up
- Write a short note of your MC style, such as 'warm, brief, no jokes about the in-laws', to paste in each time.
- Paste in the timings, first names with phonetic spellings and who is speaking, and ask ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini for each announcement.
- Check every name, title and time against the couple's plan, and read it aloud to hear how it sounds.
- Confirm sensitive moments with the couple, and agree timings with the venue coordinator on the day.
What goes wrong
- An assistant will happily invent details. Nothing goes in the script that isn't in the couple's plan.
- Names and family details are personal data. Use first names only and check your assistant's data settings.
- A script read word for word sounds stiff. Use the draft as prompts, not a speech.
