The problem
Clients paying for night patrols want proof the patrols happened. Paper logs prove little, and turning them into a weekly report for each client takes a supervisor about 30 minutes per site. With 6 patrolled sites, that's about 13 hours a month, and a client who doubts the patrols is a contract at risk.
What the AI does
QR-Patrol is a guard tour system. Its Base version includes QR codes and NFC tags as checkpoints, schedules, GPS monitoring and geofencing, an in-app SOS button, real-time alerts, daily activity reports and AI reports. Officers scan each checkpoint on their round with their phone, missed checkpoints raise an alert, and each client receives a daily or weekly report showing every scan with time and location.
A worked example
A guarding company in Hull runs mobile and static night patrols at 6 client sites with 12 officers on its rota. It puts QR checkpoints at each site and switches every patrol to QR-Patrol.
Before
6 sites at 30 minutes a week each to compile patrol reports: 3 hours a week, about 12.9 hours a month
After
6 sites at about 10 minutes a week each to check the automatic reports: 1 hour a week, about 4.3 hours a month
What it's worth
About $286£215€256A$413C$404 a month in time saved: about 8.6 hours (12.9 down to 4.3) at an assumed $33£25€30A$48C$47 an hour, before counting the contracts kept because clients can see the patrols. QR-Patrol Base for 10 to 24 guards is €155 (about $177£133€158A$255C$250) a month, or €131 (about $150£113€134A$217C$212) a month billed annually; checkpoint labels can be printed from your own account.
How to set it up
- Map each site's patrol route and the points a client most cares about: doors, fences, plant rooms.
- Print or buy checkpoint tags and fix them where they can't be photographed and scanned from elsewhere.
- Set patrol schedules in QR-Patrol so missed checkpoints raise an alert.
- Train officers on the app and the SOS button, and run test patrols at each site.
- Agree with each client what the report shows and how often they receive it.
What goes wrong
- A QR code can be photographed and scanned later. Use NFC tags at sensitive points, or check timings for patterns.
- Pricing is by guard band; the eleventh guard moves you from the 4 to 9 band to 10 to 24. Count everyone who patrols.
- Welfare checks and ManDown alerts need the Pro version, which costs about twice as much.
- Prices are in euros, and NFC tags and other equipment cost extra.
