The problem
Fitters spot tires at 3mm, or with a nail near the shoulder, every day, mention it, and hear 'next month'. Then the customer buys from whoever is nearest when the tire fails its MOT or goes flat. A depot giving 60 such advisories a month and never following up loses most of them; if 6 a month would have come back for a $239£180€214A$346C$338 pair, that's $1,436£1,080€1,285A$2,074C$2,030 of sales.
What the AI does
Keep a list of advisory customers who agreed to hear from you: name, email, registration, tire position, tread reading and date. Import it into Brevo each month and send a short, factual email two or three months after the visit, with the reading you took, the 1.6mm legal minimum and a link to book. Brevo's free plan sends up to 300 emails a day once Brevo approves your account. Every email needs a clear way to unsubscribe.
A worked example
A three-bay tire and exhaust center in Derby records about 60 tread advisories a month, and customers are asked at the counter if they'd like an email reminder. Each month, the manager imports the list into Brevo and sends that month's batch.
Before
60 advisories a month and no follow-up; few come back
After
Reminder emails go out monthly; if 6 come back for a $239£180€214A$346C$338 pair, that's $1,436£1,080€1,285A$2,074C$2,030 of work
What it's worth
About $359£270€321A$518C$508 a month in profit, if 6 advisory customers a month come back for a $239£180€214A$346C$338 pair (an assumption, not a promise) at an assumed 25% margin. Brevo's free plan covers 60 emails a month, so the only cost is about 30 minutes a month to import the list.
How to set it up
- Add a question to your job card or till: 'Can we email you a reminder about your tires?', and record the answer.
- Keep the advisory list with email, registration, tire position, tread reading and date.
- Sign up for Brevo, wait for approval, and import each month's list.
- Write a short email with the reading you took, what the 1.6mm legal limit means and your booking link.
- Send each batch two to three months after the visit, and remove anyone who books or unsubscribes.
What goes wrong
- Marketing emails need consent, or the soft opt-in for existing customers with a clear chance to opt out at the time. Record who agreed.
- Don't scare people. State the reading you took and the legal limit; save 'dangerous' for tires that really were.
- Brevo's free plan puts its logo on emails and caps sending at 300 a day.
- The list is only as good as the readings written on the job card. Make recording them routine.
