The problem
Landscapers have a list of past customers and rarely write to them. With 150 past customers, if 6 book an autumn tidy at £400 after one email, that's £2,400 in work for the season (not per month) from a message that takes under an hour.
What the AI does
You tell an AI assistant what you offer, the dates and the price. It drafts a short, friendly email, with a subject line and a version for text. You edit it so it sounds like you, then send it from your own email to people who've asked to hear from you.
A worked example
A landscaper in Harrogate has 150 past customers. In September he asks an AI assistant to draft an autumn tidy offer at £400, edits it and sends it.
Before
No contact with 150 past customers except when they ring
After
One autumn offer email a year, with 6 bookings worth £2,400 in the example
What it's worth
About £80 a month in profit on average over the year: £2,400 of extra work from one autumn email if 6 of 150 customers book at £400, at an assumed 40% margin (£960), spread over 12 months. That is against a cost of £0 to £20 a month.
How to set it up
- List the customers you can email, checking they've agreed to hear from you.
- Decide the offer: what, when and for how much.
- Ask your AI assistant for a short email and a text version, in your usual tone.
- Rewrite until it sounds like you and check price and dates.
- Send in small batches and note each reply.
What goes wrong
- UK rules on marketing messages apply: you need a lawful basis, and you must make it easy to opt out. Check the ICO's guidance.
- The 6 bookings are illustrative; your response rate may be lower.
- Don't invite everyone at once if you can't cover the work.
