How to set it up

  1. Set your deposit rule, for example the cost of materials on any hard landscaping job, and put it in your quote terms.
  2. Send hard landscaping quotes from Tradify Pro so the customer can accept them online.
  3. When a quote is accepted, send the deposit invoice straight away with a link to pay online.
  4. Order materials only once the deposit has cleared.
  5. Invoice the balance against the same job when the work is finished.

What goes wrong

  • Contracts agreed at the customer's home or online usually come with a 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, and a deposit may have to be refunded in that time. Get advice on your terms and on starting work early.
  • Card fees on large deposits can be significant, and the pricing page doesn't show Tradify's payment fees. Check them, and offer bank transfer.
