The problem

Each new product needs a title, bullet points and a description. If a seller adds 8 products a month and each listing takes 60 minutes to write and tidy, that's 480 minutes, 8 hours a month.

What the AI does

Amazon's UK seller site lists AI-generated listing content in Seller Central: you give it basic product information and it creates titles, bullet points and descriptions, which can also be localised for other marketplaces, 'ready for your review'. Feed it the facts from your supplier or your own product spec: materials, dimensions, what's in the box, compatibility. Read the draft, correct it and publish. The page doesn't say which categories or accounts can use it, so check in your own Seller Central. Amazon's rules on what listings may say still apply; follow Amazon's own category and content guidance.

A worked example

A seller in Manchester selling home organisers adds about 8 new products a month on the Professional plan, writing each listing from a spec sheet and a few notes.

Before

About 60 minutes a listing: 8 x 60 = 480 minutes, 8 hours a month

After

About 25 minutes to supply facts, review and correct the AI draft: 8 x 25 = 200 minutes, 3.3 hours a month

What it's worth

About 4.7 hours a month saved (280 minutes), worth around £117 if your time is worth £25 an hour. The Professional plan is £25 a month excluding VAT, about £30 with 20% VAT, plus selling fees. The Individual plan has no monthly fee but costs £0.75 per item sold; check which suits you and whether your account has the tool.

How to set it up

  1. Write a fact sheet for each product from your supplier's information: size, weight, materials, contents, compatibility.
  2. In Seller Central, use the AI listing content tool and give it only those facts.
  3. Read the title, bullet points and description against your fact sheet and the product in your hand.
  4. Remove anything you can't prove, including claims about health, safety, certifications or origin.
  5. Check the finished listing against Amazon's rules for your category before you publish.

What goes wrong

  • The AI can state sizes, materials or compatibility that are wrong. Customers who receive something different return it and may leave a poor review.
  • Don't make medical, safety or 'UK made' claims unless you can prove them, and follow Amazon's own rules for your category.
  • The page doesn't say the tool is available in every category or account type, or whether it is limited by plan; confirm in Seller Central before relying on it.
  • Descriptions drafted from the same prompt can sound the same as competitors'; add your real differences.
