The problem
Older cats arrive with tablets, insulin and prescription diets, explained on scraps of paper at drop-off, and the license register must record each cat's diet and any medical treatment. If a cattery boards 40 such cats a month and spends 12 minutes on each copying notes onto pen sheets and into the register, that's 480 minutes, 8 hours a month, with the risk of a missed dose.
What the AI does
Revelation Pets keeps unlimited client and pet profiles with notes, and owners can register, add their pet's details and upload vaccine records through the customer portal. The dashboard shows the day's arrivals and departures and prints boarding cards, and reports include feedings and vaccinations. Ask owners to enter diet and medication details in the portal before the stay, check them against the vet's label at drop-off, and print the boarding card for the pen. Medication is given exactly as the vet's label says; the software holds the notes.
A worked example
A 20-pen cattery in Kent boards about 40 cats a month with tablets, insulin or prescription diets, and copies owners' handwritten notes onto each pen sheet.
Before
40 cats x 12 minutes copying notes: 480 minutes, 8 hours a month
After
Owners enter details in the portal; about 4 minutes each to check at drop-off and print the card: 160 minutes, about 2.7 hours a month
What it's worth
About $106£80€95A$154C$150 a month saved, at an assumed $20£15€18A$29C$28 an hour for 5.3 hours (480 minus 160 minutes). Silver is $67£50€60A$96C$94 a month, or $658£495€589A$950C$931 a year (about $55£41€49A$79C$77 a month), so the net is about $40£30€36A$58C$56 to $52£39€46A$75C$73; the same subscription also runs bookings and vaccine records.
How to set it up
- Start the free trial on Silver and set up the profile notes you need: diet, medication, dose times and vet.
- Ask owners to enter diet and medication details in the customer portal before the stay.
- At drop-off, check the notes against the vet's label with the owner and correct them there and then.
- Print the boarding card for each pen so staff see feeding and medication at a glance.
- Keep a dose-by-dose record, initialled by whoever gives each dose.
What goes wrong
- The page doesn't list a dose-by-dose medication log; keep your own record of each dose given.
- Owners' notes can be wrong; the vet's label is the instruction, so check it at drop-off.
- Profiles hold owners' contact details; give each member of staff their own login and remove leavers promptly.
- SMS is an add-on with no price on the page.
