The problem
Every pass frees about 2 hours a week, and a gap that takes 2 weeks to refill costs 4 lessons. Three passes a month at 2 hours a week for 2 weeks is 12 lessons, about $606£456€543A$876C$857 a month at $51£38€45A$73C$71 lost while you wait for word of mouth.
What the AI does
Total Drive's Jump Leads gives members a free profile in its driving instructor directory, which has pages for 2,284 UK towns, with no listing fees or charges per inquiry. You add your prices, areas, manual or automatic, availability, photos, reviews and recent passes. Its Enquiry Manager form can sit on your own website and social media pages; each inquiry is added to your account with an email alert, and you accept the pupil, put them on your waiting list or decline. Both are included in Basic.
A worked example
An instructor in Gloucester has about 3 pupils pass each month and relies on recommendations to refill the slots.
Before
12 lessons a month lost to slots waiting 2 weeks to refill: about $606£456€543A$876C$857
After
If a profile and inquiry form halve the wait: about $303£228€271A$438C$429 a month back
What it's worth
About $258£194€231A$372C$365 a month in profit, at an assumed 85% margin after fuel on $303£228€271A$438C$429 of lessons that would otherwise go unsold. Halving the refill time is an assumption; note where each new pupil found you.
How to set it up
- Create your Jump Leads profile with lesson prices, the areas you cover, car type and current availability.
- Add the Enquiry Manager form to your website, Facebook page and Google Business Profile.
- Reply to each inquiry the same day and move them to your waiting list if you're full.
- Before posting a pass photo or a pupil's name, get that pupil's permission.
- Update availability on your profile whenever a pupil passes.
What goes wrong
- A profile showing availability you no longer have brings inquiries you can't take; keep it current.
- The directory only lists Total Drive members, so it's one channel among several, not a replacement for recommendations.
- Posting pupils' photos, names or test centers without consent is a privacy problem, even for good news.
