The problem
Design reviews by live call fill the diary and the notes still need writing up. If an agency runs 10 review rounds a month at a 45-minute call plus 15 minutes of write-up, that's 600 minutes, 10 hours a month.
What the AI does
Record a short walkthrough of the design or staging site with Loom, send the link, and let the client reply with comments on the video. On Loom's Business + AI plan the pricing page lists auto titles, summaries, chapters and tasks, so the recording arrives with a summary and a draft task list. The designer checks both and turns the agreed changes into the project's task list. Starter is free but limited to 25 videos and 5-minute recordings, and the AI features are listed under Business + AI only.
A worked example
A four-person web design agency in Bristol runs about 10 design review rounds a month. Two designers record the walkthroughs.
Before
10 rounds at a 45-minute call and 15 minutes of write-up: 600 minutes, 10 hours a month
After
If each round is a 20-minute recording and check (200 minutes) plus 3 follow-up calls of 30 minutes (90 minutes): 290 minutes, about 4.8 hours a month
What it's worth
About 5.2 hours a month saved (310 minutes), worth about £181 at £35 an hour, if clients really answer by comment on many rounds (an assumption to test). Cost: Business + AI is $24 (about £18) a user a month, so 2 designers is $48, about £36 a month. The page does not make clear whether that is monthly or annual billing, though its FAQ suggests monthly with annual saving up to 17%.
How to set it up
- Try Starter (free) with one real project to see how clients respond to a recorded walkthrough.
- Move the designers who record to Business + AI, and check the price per user and billing period at checkout.
- Record the walkthrough, with the page open and the changes you want feedback on, and send the link with a clear question.
- Check the AI summary and task list against the client's comments and correct them before they go into your project tool.
- Confirm approvals in writing (an email reply), not only as a comment on a video.
What goes wrong
- An AI summary can miss a comment or merge two requests. Check it before it becomes the task list.
- A recording can show client data, logins or unreleased content. Check the screen before you record and who the link is shared with.
- A comment on a video is not a signed-off approval. Keep your written sign-off step.
- The AI features sit on the Business + AI plan only; Starter's limits (25 videos, 5-minute recordings) run out quickly.
