The problem
Local brokers win work by being seen, but posting means stopping work several times a week. If writing and posting 3 posts a week takes 30 minutes each, that's 90 minutes a week, about 6.5 hours a month.
What the AI does
Buffer lets you write and schedule posts for LinkedIn pages and profiles and Facebook pages in one place. Its AI Assistant, listed on every plan including Free, helps refine and repurpose your drafts. Write a batch of posts in one sitting (claims tips, what to check before renewal, local business news), have the person who signs off financial promotions approve them, then schedule them. Posts about cover or price are financial promotions, so they must be fair, clear and not misleading.
A worked example
A two-person brokerage in Lincoln posts 3 times a week on its LinkedIn page and Facebook page. One broker drafts two weeks of posts at a time with Buffer's AI Assistant, the director approves them by email, then they are scheduled.
Before
30 minutes to write and post each of 3 posts a week: about 6.5 hours a month
After
About 2 hours a month to draft, approve and schedule in two sittings
What it's worth
About $180£135€161A$259C$254 a month in broker time, at no cost on Buffer's free plan. That is 4.5 hours saved (6.5 hours down to 2) at an assumed $40£30€36A$58C$56 an hour. The free plan allows 3 channels and 10 scheduled posts per channel at a time, so schedule two weeks at once; if you outgrow it, Essentials is $5 (about $5£4€5A$8C$8) per channel a month billed yearly, about $11£8€10A$15C$15 for 2 channels.
How to set it up
- Connect your LinkedIn page and Facebook page to a free Buffer account.
- List a month of topics: claims tips, what to check before renewal, local business news and team news.
- Draft the posts and use the AI Assistant to tighten them; remove any claim about price or cover you can't back up.
- Send each batch to whoever signs off financial promotions and keep the approval with the posts.
- Schedule two weeks at a time and answer comments yourself.
What goes wrong
- A post that mentions cover, price or a product is a financial promotion under FCA rules. 'Cheapest' or 'fully covered' claims cause trouble, so get each batch approved.
- Approval workflows are only on Buffer's Team plan, so on Free the sign-off happens outside Buffer. Keep a record of it.
- AI drafts can sound generic or say something untrue about insurance. Edit each one into your own words.
- Never post client names, claims or photos without the client's written permission.
