The problem
For each commercial risk you get quotes from several insurers as PDFs, then key the premium, excess, limits and endorsements into a comparison for the client. If you handle 40 quotes a month and keying each takes 15 minutes, that's 600 minutes, 10 hours a month.
What the AI does
Parseur gives you a mailbox address. You forward each insurer quote PDF to it, choose the fields you want (insurer, premium, IPT, excess, limits, key endorsements) and its AI parsing engine pulls them out. The results go to Google Sheets or an Excel export, one row per quote, ready to lay out as a comparison. The broker checks every figure against the quote before anything goes to the client, and the recommendation stays the broker's.
A worked example
A commercial brokerage in Northampton gets about 40 insurer quotes a month for shops, offices and trades, averaging 6 pages each. It forwards them to Parseur on the Mini plan (300 pages a month) and checks each row against the PDF.
Before
15 minutes to key each of 40 quotes: 10 hours a month
After
About 5 minutes to check each extracted row: 3.3 hours a month
What it's worth
About $222£167€199A$321C$314 a month in staff time, against $78£59€70A$113C$111 to $102£77€92A$148C$145 for Parseur. That is 10 minutes saved on each of 40 quotes, 400 minutes or 6.7 hours, at an assumed $33£25€30A$48C$47 an hour. Mini is €89 (about $102£77€92A$148C$145) a month, or €828 a year (about $78£59€70A$113C$111 a month), for 300 pages; 40 quotes of about 6 pages is 240 pages.
How to set it up
- Try the free plan (20 pages a month) on a handful of recent quotes from different insurers.
- List the fields your comparison needs and set them up in Parseur.
- Send the results to Google Sheets so each quote becomes a row.
- Check each row against the PDF, especially excess, limits and endorsements, before building the client's comparison.
- Count your pages each month; every page of a PDF counts, so forward the quote, not the full policy wording.
What goes wrong
- Extraction can misread a figure or miss an endorsement buried in the wording. Never send a comparison you haven't checked line by line against the quote.
- Quotes hold client and business details. Parseur's page says it is GDPR compliant but doesn't say where data is stored; ask before you start, for UK GDPR.
- A comparison table isn't a recommendation. The demands and needs statement and any advice are yours under FCA rules and Consumer Duty.
- Prices are in euros, so the sterling cost moves with the exchange rate, and the free plan's 20 pages won't cover real volumes.
