The problem
Taking on a worker means writing out their worksheet every evening, then phoning to check where they've got to and whether number 22 was done. If that takes the owner 25 minutes a day and an app cuts it to 5, the 20 minutes saved over 5 days a week is about 7.2 hours a month (20 × 5 × 4.3 = 430 minutes).
What the AI does
In Squeegee, assigning work to a worker or team takes two clicks, and for recurring work you can set default assignments so jobs go to the right person every time. The Day Pilot gives the owner a live overview of each worker's last known location and job status, so there's no need to phone round. User roles limit what each person sees. All of this is on the Core plan.
A worked example
A window cleaner in Gloucester takes on an employee to run a second round. Both use Squeegee Core ($25£19€23A$36C$36 per user a month, $51£38€45A$73C$71 in total, excluding VAT). Each round has a default worker, and the owner checks the live overview at lunchtime instead of phoning.
Before
25 minutes a day writing worksheets and phoning to check progress
After
About 5 minutes a day checking the live overview
What it's worth
About $239£180€214A$346C$338 a month of the owner's time saved, from about 7.2 hours at $33£25€30A$48C$47 an hour. That is against $51£38€45A$73C$71 a month for two Squeegee Core users.
How to set it up
- Add the worker as a user with the Worker role, so they see their own jobs and not the business's figures.
- Set a default worker for each round, so recurring jobs are assigned automatically.
- Give each worker their own start and end points so their route makes sense.
- Ask workers to mark each job done as they go, so the overview and invoices stay current.
- Check the overview at lunchtime and at the end of the day instead of phoning.
What goes wrong
- The live overview shows each worker's last known location, which is personal data under UK GDPR. Tell staff it's there and why, and use it only for work.
- Squeegee charges per user, so every worker with a login adds $25£19€23A$36C$36 a month on Core.
- It only works if jobs are marked done as they happen. A worker who updates everything at 5pm gives you a live view of nothing.
