The problem

An Etsy shop depends on Etsy search, and a launch can pass quietly. If a maker has 250 people who signed up at fairs and on her own site, and one email a month brings 8 orders at £28, that's £224 a month (8 x £28) she'd otherwise miss.

What the AI does

Brevo is an email marketing platform. Its site lists a drag-and-drop editor, templates, sign-up forms, segments and an AI content generator that drafts subject lines and copy. Collect sign-ups at craft fairs on a card or tablet and with a form on your own website or social page, with a clear promise of what you'll send. Once a month, email a new collection or restock with a link to the listing. Add only people who signed up themselves. Etsy has its own rules on using buyer details from Etsy, so read Etsy's policies yourself before adding anyone who bought through Etsy.

A worked example

A maker of ceramic mugs in Bristol has 250 people on a list collected at craft fairs and through a sign-up form on her own site. She sends one email a month about new designs.

Before

No way to tell 250 interested people about a launch

After

One email a month to 250 opted-in contacts; 8 order at £28 each = £224

What it's worth

About £112 a month in gross profit if 8 of 250 recipients order: £224 at an assumed 50% margin after materials and fees (£224 x 0.5 = £112). The 8 orders is an assumption, not a promise. Brevo's free plan sends up to 300 emails a day, which covers a list of 250 sent in one go, so the cost is £0. If the list grows past 300, Starter is £6 a month.

How to set it up

  1. Create a Brevo account and a sign-up form with a clear promise and an unticked consent box.
  2. Collect sign-ups at fairs and on your own site, and save the date and how each person agreed.
  3. Don't add Etsy buyers who haven't chosen to sign up themselves, and check Etsy's policies first.
  4. Build one email template and ask the AI tool for subject lines and copy for each launch, then check all details.
  5. Remove unsubscribes immediately and keep your sign-up records.

What goes wrong

  • Marketing emails need consent under PECR and UK GDPR. A person who bought from you once hasn't agreed to be emailed.
  • Etsy has rules on contacting and using buyer details, so read Etsy's policies yourself.
  • The free plan sends up to 300 emails a day; a list bigger than that needs Starter at £6 a month.
  • If you want the Brevo logo removed, that needs the £8 a month add-on on Starter or Standard at £13.
