The problem
Owners searching for a groomer nearby compare Google reviews, and most happy owners never think to leave one. Asking in person at collection feels awkward with a wet dog and a queue, so it rarely happens. If a stronger profile brought just 1 new client a month at $67£50€60A$96C$94 a groom, that's $67£50€60A$96C$94 a month in takings, and more every month they come back.
What the AI does
GroomSlot's Fill My Diary page says it can send automated review requests after every appointment to grow your Google Business Profile reviews, with a direct link for leaving one. Requests go out automatically once an appointment is completed, and you can set the timing and the message. Ask everyone, every time, in the same neutral way. Under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, fake and incentivized reviews are banned: never offer a discount or free nail clip for a review, never ask only owners you think are happy, and never write reviews yourself or with AI.
A worked example
A one-person grooming salon in Swindon, grooming about 25 dogs a week and already booking through GroomSlot, has 14 Google reviews against 60 or more at the two nearest competitors. The groomer turns on review requests, sets them to go out a few hours after collection and writes a short, neutral message in their own words.
Before
A review asked for now and then, when the groomer remembers; 14 reviews in 3 years
After
All of about 108 owners a month (25 a week × 4.3) asked, each with a link straight to the Google review box
What it's worth
About $40£30€36A$58C$56 a month in profit, if more reviews bring 1 extra new client a month at $67£50€60A$96C$94 a groom (an assumption), at an assumed 60% margin. If you already use GroomSlot for booking, review requests add nothing to the cost. Taking GroomSlot at $32£24€29A$46C$45 a month just for this wouldn't pay back on the first groom alone; it makes sense alongside its booking and reminders.
How to set it up
- Make sure your Google Business Profile is claimed and shows your hours, services and photos.
- Turn on review requests in GroomSlot and set the timing, for example a few hours after collection.
- Write the message in your own words: thank the owner and ask for an honest review, with no reward attached.
- Reply to every review, good or bad, briefly and politely, without discussing a dog's health or behavior in public.
- Check after a month whether the requests are going out and how many reviews arrived.
What goes wrong
- Never reward reviews or ask only happy owners. Under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 that is banned, and it puts your whole profile at risk.
- If requests go by WhatsApp or text they may use part of the 150 messages a month included, alongside reminders, so check your count.
- A bad review will come eventually. Answer it calmly and offer to talk by phone; arguing in public costs more than the review.
