The problem

A set of nails looks great in the photo, but the caption is an afterthought, so posts are rare or repeat the same line. If you post 10 times a month and each caption takes 15 minutes, that's 150 minutes a month.

What the AI does

After a set, note the colours, finish and season. Paste the notes into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini with an example of a caption you liked, and ask for three short options in your voice, plus a few hashtags. Pick one, edit it and add your booking link. Don't let the caption claim anything about nail health or strength, such as 'strengthens nails', and keep client names out of what you paste. Post only photos the client has agreed to, and never ask the assistant for reviews or testimonials.

A worked example

A nail salon in Bournemouth posts five or six sets a week on Instagram and wants to post 10 well-captioned sets a month instead of leaving sets unposted.

Before

15 minutes a caption: 10 x 15 = 150 minutes a month

After

About 5 minutes to pick, edit and post each: 10 x 5 = 50 minutes a month

What it's worth

About 100 minutes a month saved (10 x 10 minutes), worth around £30 if tech time is worth £18 an hour. Free plans are enough; paid plans run from about £4 to about £20 a month for one person.

How to set it up

  1. Photograph the set only if the client has agreed to it being posted.
  2. Write down the colours, finish, and season in a line or two.
  3. Paste into your assistant with an example caption, and ask for three options and five hashtags.
  4. Choose one, delete any claim about nail health, and add your booking link.
  5. Post, and keep the captions that got replies as examples.

What goes wrong

  • A client who hasn't agreed to a photo shouldn't be posted. Get a yes first.
  • Assistants add claims like 'strong' or 'healthy nails'. Delete them unless you can back them up.
  • Captions on repeat get ignored. Change the opening line each time.
  • Never use an assistant to write testimonials or reviews.
