The problem

Treatment descriptions on the website and booking page are out of date, copied from a supplier or full of vague promises. If you refresh 4 descriptions a month and each takes 20 minutes, that's 80 minutes a month.

What the AI does

Write down what the treatment involves, how long it takes and who does it, then paste your notes into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini and ask for a clear 60-word description in plain English. Tell it not to claim medical or lasting results, not to say who a treatment is suitable for and not to say that anything is safe. Suitability, patch tests and allergies are decisions for your therapist at consultation, so the description just says that a consultation comes first. Read it, cut anything that isn't yours, and paste it into your booking page.

A worked example

A beauty salon in Southport offering facials, waxing, lash and brow treatments updates 4 treatment descriptions a month as it changes its menu and seasonal offers.

Before

20 minutes to write each description: 4 x 20 = 80 minutes a month

After

About 8 minutes to draft and check each: 4 x 8 = 32 minutes a month

What it's worth

About 48 minutes a month saved (4 x 12 minutes), worth around £20 if your time is worth £25 an hour. Free plans are enough; paid plans run from about £4 to about £20 a month for one person.

How to set it up

  1. Write notes for the treatment: what happens, how long it takes, and what you ask clients to tell you.
  2. Paste them into your assistant and ask for a plain description with no health or results claims.
  3. Add a line that a consultation and any patch test happen before the treatment, as your therapist decides.
  4. Compare the draft with your insurer's and product supplier's guidance for the treatment.
  5. Put the final wording on your booking page and menu.

What goes wrong

  • Assistants invent benefits such as 'reduces wrinkles' or 'treats acne'. Delete any claim you can't back with evidence.
  • Never let it tell clients a treatment is safe, suitable or patch-test free; that's a therapist's decision.
  • Don't paste client details into a consumer plan.
  • Descriptions copied from supplier sites may carry claims you can't repeat; use your own words.
