The problem
Boosters slip when the reminder is a postcard someone forgot to send. If a 2-vet practice has 200 pets a month due a booster and 15 of them lapse because nobody chased them, at $80£60€71A$115C$113 a booster appointment (an assumption), that's $1,197£900€1,071A$1,728C$1,692 a month of appointments that never get booked.
What the AI does
Provet Cloud says its rule-based follow-ups bring clients back on time for boosters, rechecks and lab monitoring, and it lists automated SMS and email reminders on every plan. The vet records each pet's vaccinations and due dates, as now; the reminder rules then message the owner when a booster is due, with your phone number or online booking link. The practice writes the wording and checks the due list each week.
A worked example
A 2-vet independent practice in Shropshire has about 200 pets a month due a booster. It moves to Provet Cloud Core and sets reminder rules for dog and cat vaccinations, so owners get a text and an email when a booster is due.
Before
200 boosters due a month and about 15 lapse unbooked: $1,197£900€1,071A$1,728C$1,692 of appointments lost
After
Reminders go out automatically and 10 of those 15 book: about $798£600€714A$1,152C$1,128 a month back
What it's worth
About $399£300€357A$576C$564 a month in profit, at an assumed 50% margin on $798£600€714A$1,152C$1,128 of booster appointments (10 extra a month at $80£60€71A$115C$113). That roughly covers Provet Cloud Core for 2 vets at about $370£278€331A$534C$523 a month, but that price is the whole practice system, not just reminders. If your current system can already send booster reminders, set them up there first.
How to set it up
- Check Provet's UK pricing for your number of vets: Core is listed at $185£139€165A$267C$261 per vet a month with a $185£139€165A$267C$261 platform fee that includes the first vet. Ask whether VAT is added and what each text costs.
- Ask Provet to show you how reminder rules are set for boosters, and confirm they can be timed from each pet's vaccination due date.
- Write short reminder wording with the pet's name, the practice name and how to book, and have the practice manager approve it.
- Each week, check the list of pets due and mark any that have died or moved away, so their owners don't get a painful message.
- After three months, compare how many boosters were booked with the months before.
What goes wrong
- A reminder about a pet that has died is upsetting. Mark deceased and transferred pets in the record straight away; that's a front desk job, not something to leave to the rules.
- Provet's pricing page doesn't give SMS prices. Text costs add up across 200 reminders a month, so ask before you switch.
- Owner names, mobile numbers and email addresses are personal data under UK GDPR. Check your privacy notice covers reminders and respect owners who opt out of texts.
- The vet decides each pet's vaccination schedule. Reminder rules only follow what's in the record, so a wrong due date sends a wrong reminder.
