The problem
Taking payment from every daycare dog at drop-off slows the morning and leaves unpaid days to chase. If 25 dogs a day each take 1.5 minutes to pay over 22 days, that's 825 minutes, plus 8 unpaid days a month chased at 10 minutes each: about 15.1 hours a month.
What the AI does
Revelation Pets' Gold plan adds daycare to its kennel and cattery software. Its features page lists packages: credits applied to daycare bookings, customers buying credit packages online, and credit expiry periods you set. Owners can buy credits and pay outstanding invoices through the customer portal. Sell packs such as 10 days at a small discount, apply a credit at each check-in, and let owners top up online when they run low.
A worked example
A dog daycare in Bristol takes 25 dogs a day, 22 days a month, paid by card at drop-off. It moves regulars onto 10-day packs bought online and checks balances weekly.
Before
25 payments a day at 1.5 minutes x 22 days (825 minutes) plus 8 unpaid days chased at 10 minutes: about 15.1 hours a month
After
Packs bought online, about 15 minutes a week checking balances and low credit: about 1.1 hours a month
What it's worth
About $242£182€217A$349C$342 a month saved, at an assumed $17£13€15A$25C$24 an hour staff cost for 14 hours (15.1 minus 1.1). Gold, which includes daycare, is $82£62€74A$119C$117 a month, or $834£627€746A$1,204C$1,179 a year (about $69£52€62A$100C$98 a month); Silver at $67£50€60A$96C$94 doesn't include daycare. Card processing fees are separate.
How to set it up
- Start the free trial on Gold, since Silver doesn't include daycare.
- Set up packages such as 5 and 10 days, with an expiry period you'd be happy to explain to a customer.
- Connect payments so owners can buy packs through the customer portal.
- Apply a credit at each check-in, and mention it to owners at drop-off when their balance is low.
- Each week, check for dogs booked in with no credits left.
What goes wrong
- Credits that expire unused feel like lost money to owners. Put the expiry period in your terms and the package description.
- Card processing fees aren't shown on the pricing page; ask before you sign up.
- More than one site isn't priced on the page; Revelation Pets asks multi-location businesses to get in touch.
- Prepaid packs are money for days not yet provided. Keep enough aside to refund them if you close or change prices.
