The problem
Pupils forget much of a lesson by the time they reach the first tee, lose confidence and stop booking. A pro with 40 regular pupils who sees 4 a month drift away, each worth 2 lessons a month at $53£40€48A$77C$75 loses about $426£320€381A$614C$602 a month of repeat lessons.
What the AI does
CoachNow is a coaching app for sharing video, voice-over feedback and drills with each pupil between lessons. Its pricing page lists a video analysis suite with annotation tools, slow-motion playback, skeleton tracking with angle detection and unlimited voice-overs on every plan. PRO adds unlimited Spaces and Groups (the cheaper Analyze plan has 5), post scheduling and view tracking. Film the swing during the lesson, add a short voice-over with the one or two things to work on, and post it with a practice drill to the pupil's own space. The pupil watches it at the range, and you can see whether they've opened it.
A worked example
A teaching pro at a pay-and-play course near Reading has about 40 regular pupils. After each lesson they post a 1-minute clip with a voice-over and a practice drill to the pupil's space in CoachNow PRO, paid yearly.
Before
About 4 regular pupils a month drifting away after a lesson or two
After
Pupils practice from their own clips, and 2 of those 4 a month keep booking, worth about $213£160€190A$307C$301 a month
What it's worth
About $170£128€152A$246C$241 a month in profit, at an assumed 80% margin on $213£160€190A$307C$301 of lessons from 2 pupils a month who keep booking (2 lessons a month each at $53£40€48A$77C$75). That is against CoachNow PRO at $499 a year (about $41£31€37A$60C$58 a month) or $49.99 (about $49£37€44A$71C$70) a month billed monthly.
How to set it up
- Start CoachNow and choose PRO if you coach more than 5 pupils regularly, since Analyze covers only 5 Spaces and Groups.
- Ask each pupil before filming and tell them how the clips are stored and used; for juniors, get a parent's written consent first.
- Create a space for each regular pupil and post a short clip with a voice-over and one drill after every lesson.
- Use post scheduling to send a practice reminder or a second drill a few days after the lesson.
- Check view tracking each week and message pupils who haven't opened their clip.
What goes wrong
- Prices are in US dollars, so the sterling cost moves with the exchange rate. Yearly billing at $499 works out cheaper than $49.99 a month.
- Filming juniors must follow your club's safeguarding policy and photography rules. Keep each junior's clips private to them and their parent, never in a group.
- It only works if clips go out within a day or two. Allow about 5 minutes per lesson, or it quietly slips.
- Skeleton tracking and angle detection are aids, not a verdict. Your eye and the pupil's ball flight still decide what to change.
