The problem
Patients leave with a hand-drawn stick figure or a verbal 'do these twice a day', forget half of it by the evening, and at the next visit nobody is sure what they actually did. If drawing or typing a sheet takes about 6 minutes and you give out 12 plans a week, that's 72 minutes a week, about 5.2 hours a month (72 × 4.3), usually squeezed in after the patient has gone.
What the AI does
Rehab My Patient is exercise prescription software with a library of more than 5,500 exercises and advice sheets with videos, pictures and line drawings, and more than 240 ready-made templates. Its AI plan generator drafts a plan, with sets and reps, from a short prompt you write, and its auto-fill suggests sets and reps for exercises you pick. Plans go to the patient by email, text or WhatsApp, as a PDF, or through its Track Rehab app, and the site says safety netting and red flag advice is added to every plan. It lists integrations with Cliniko and other clinic systems, and all features are on every plan. The osteopath or chiropractor chooses every exercise and checks every set, rep and line of advice against their assessment before anything is sent; the AI draft is only a starting point.
A worked example
A solo osteopath in Truro sees about 30 patients a week and gives a home plan to 12 of them. They build templates for the presentations they see most and send each plan by WhatsApp or email before the patient leaves.
Before
About 6 minutes a plan by hand: 72 minutes a week, about 5.2 hours a month
After
About 2 minutes a plan from a template or checked AI draft: 24 minutes a week, about 1.7 hours a month
What it's worth
About $229£172€205A$330C$323 a month of the osteopath's time saved, against about $13£10€12A$19C$19 to $15£11€13A$21C$21 for Rehab My Patient. That's 48 minutes a week saved, times 4.3, about 206 minutes or 3.4 hours a month, at an assumed $67£50€60A$96C$94 an hour. The Individual plan for 1 practitioner is $15.19£11.42€13.59A$21.93C$21.47 a month, or $164.04£123.34€146.77A$236.81C$231.88 a year (about $13£10€12A$19C$19 a month).
How to set it up
- Start the 14-day free trial, read the GDPR page and sign the data processing agreement in your account settings before adding real patients, and ask where patient data is stored, as the site doesn't say.
- Build your own templates for the presentations you see most, from the exercises you actually prescribe, with your own wording on how often and how hard.
- In clinic, start from a template or an AI draft, then check every exercise, set, rep and line of advice against your assessment, and delete anything that doesn't suit this patient.
- Ask the patient how they'd like to receive it (email, text, WhatsApp or print) and send it before they leave, so you can go through it together.
- Note in the patient's record which plan you gave and how you sent it, and review how they got on at the next visit.
What goes wrong
- An AI draft can include exercises that are wrong for this patient's presentation. The advice is yours: GOsC standard C2 says records should include the information and advice you give and how you communicated it, and the GCC Code (J2) says your record must accurately represent each interaction.
- Exercise plans tied to a named patient are health data under UK GDPR. Sign the DPA, find out where data is held, and don't send plans to a number or email the patient hasn't given you.
- Automatic red flag and safety-netting text is general. It doesn't replace your own conversation about when to stop, when to ring and when to seek urgent help.
- Individual is 1 practitioner and 1 login. The pricing page shows Clinic plans for 2 or more from $19.18£14.42€17.16A$27.69C$27.11 a month, but the help center says $21.84£16.42€19.54A$31.53C$30.87, so check the price at checkout.
